Die Einführung in die Literaturwissenschaft widmet sich in etwa den folgenden Basisfragen:
- Was ist ein (literarischer) Text? Was ist Literaturwissenschaft?
- Wie lesen, verstehen, interpretieren wir (narrative, lyrische, dramatische) Texte?
- Was ist ein Autor?
- Was sind literarische Gattungen?
- Was ist eine Literaturepoche? Was ist Literaturgeschichtsschreibung?
- Was sind literaturwissenschaftliche Methoden?
- Was ist eine literarische Übersetzung?
- In welchem Verhältnis steht Literatur zu den anderen Künsten?
- Was ist der Stellenwert der Literatur unter den anderen Medien?

Im Rahmen aktiver Teilnahme gilt es, in Gruppenarbeit, die Diskussion einer konkreten Seminarsitzung zu führen sowie der Seminargruppe ein ausgearbeitetes Thesenpapier bereit zu stellen.
Die Einführung wird mit einer benoteten Klausur abgeschlossen.
Der Besuch des seminarbegleitenden Tutoriums wird dringend empfohlen.
