***This class will be taught in person and on campus***

Soon after Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical "Hamilton" premiered in 2015 it became a roaring success with critics and audiences alike, underlining the importance and popularity of theater even in this digital age.
In this class, we will seek to broaden our knowledge and appreciation of this ancient literary genre by first looking into its concepts, methods, and functioning principles. Then we will proceed to reading and discussing a selection of interesting and often quite famous US-American plays of the more recent history. We will critically discuss texts and sample their stage productions to give us a more rounded experience of the dimensions of drama.
