Zur Zeit sind sie in aller Munde: Als Bestäuber und Honiglieferanten kennen selbst die Allerkleinsten schon die Honigbienen. Bienenhaltung ist im Trend, das sogenannte Bienensterben wird regelmäßig in den Medien thematisiert.
Bienen sind faszinierende Organismen: Die Honigbiene ist ein geradezu klassisches Demonstrationsobjekt für Verhalten (Schwänzeltanz), Evolution (Soziale Insekten) und Ökologie (Bestäubung). Wildbienen sind auf Grund ihrer ökologischen Bedeutung, aber auch in der Vielzahl der Arten und Lebensweisen wunderbare Demonstrationsobjekte für Biodiversität.
Im Kurs werden Untersuchungen an und Experimente mit Bienen durchgeführt. Wir haben zur Zeit 8 Völker an der Universität, an denen gearbeitet werden kann und die gepflegt werden müssen. Die Themen können nach Interesse gewählt werden und werden bei der Vorbesprechung vorgestellt.
