300094 Transnational Studies: Cosmopolitanism, Globalization and Transnationalism (S) (WiSe 2010/2011)

In den letzten beiden Jahrzehnten erlebten Konzepte wie Globalisierung, Transnationalismus und Kosmopolitanismus eine Blüte. Während viele theoretische Versuche soziale Phänomene zu erklären und zu verstehen, implizit oder gar explizit auf einen nationalstaatlichen Rahmen verwiesen, fassen Ansätze und Studien in den drei genannten Richtungen Sozialität als komplexe und dynamische Konstellationen von multiplen regionalen, institutionellen, kulturellen und ökonomischen Knotenpunkten. Jenseits enger und festgelegter Grenzen geraten so neue Ebenen und Skalen in den Blick. Supra-nationale, trans-nationale oder gar globale Perspektiven prägen Diskussionen um sozialen Wandel und Kontinuität. Die drei Konzepte Globalisierung, Transnationalisierung und Kosmopolitanismus werden in diesem Seminar auf Themen wie soziale Bewegungen, Klimawandel, Migration und Sozialpolitik angwendet. Dadurch treten Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede der Konzepte in Erscheinung.
Dieses Seminar ist so konzipiert, dass des die Vorlesung "Introduction to Transnational Studies" (Nr. 300110) ergänzt. Es kann aber auch unabhängig davon belegt werden.
