Selfie, Killfie, Bellfie – das Selfie ist so allgegenwärtig, dass es bereits notwendig wurde, alltagssprachliche Begriffe für seine Unterarten zu erfinden. Für eine Mediensoziologie, die sich mit den Auswirkungen neuer Medien auf unser Alltagshandeln befasst, ist das Selfie ein neues soziales Phänomen, das es zu beobachten und zu untersuchen gilt.

Nach einem kurzen Blick auf den öffentlichen Diskurs zum Thema Selfie werden im Seminar vor allem aktuelle wissenschaftliche Arbeiten betrachtet, die sich methodisch und/oder theoretisch mit dem Selfie als Forschungsgegenstand auseinandersetzen.

Voraussetzung für eine erfolgreiche Teilnahme am Seminar ist die Bereitschaft, sich auf wissenschaftlicher Ebene mit einem medialen Alltagsphänomen auseinanderzusetzen und dabei (auch) englischsprachige Texte zu lesen.
