Das Seminar behandelt einführend die zentralen Grundlagen des personzentrierten Ansatzes nach Carl R. Rogers sowie dessen Entwicklung im Kontext pädagogischer Beratung. Die theoretischen Grundlagen werden durch Praxiseinblicke -z.B. in Form verfilmter Beratungen- ergänzt und vertieft.
Im Sinne einer kritischen Würdigung wird darüber hinaus zum einen die Bedeutung des Ansatzes für die pädagogische Beratung im Hinblick auf das Menschenbild, die Gesprächsführung und den Umgang mit Gefühlen thematisiert. Zum anderen werden die Gleichsetzung von Therapie und Beratung sowie die Reduktion des Ansatzes auf Techniken der Gesprächsführung im Sinne einer `trivialisierten Therapie´ und Psychotechnik kritisch hinterfragt.
