230561 Walter Benjamin und das mythische Denken der Moderne (S) (SoSe 2018)

Walter Benjamin ist allgemein als „Denker der Moderne“ anerkannt, der sowohl vom Marxismus, als auch von der ästhetischen Moderne wichtige Anstöße empfangen hat. Dabei stellt er einerseits moderne Formen der Mythisierung in Frage (Stichwort „Aura“), andererseits ist diese Fragestellung nicht rationalistisch fundiert im Sinne einer Überwindung des Mythos durch den Logos. Mit Hilfe von Denkern wie Ernst Cassirer und Hans Blumenberg soll gezeigt werden, dass Benjamin selbst sich mythischer Vorgehensweisen bedient, wenn er sinnliche Wahrnehmung und Darstellung in den Mittelpunkt seiner Analysen stellt.
