This class focuses on two of Shakespeare's most renowned tragedies, focusing on political-historic subject matters and on unconditional love, respectively.
We will contextualize the two plays against their historical, social and religious background of the Elizabethan Age and its contemporary theatre scene, and discuss important passages of the two plays in close readings and textual analyses. Last but not least, we will also have a look at possible means and ways who to teach these plays in an EFL classroom at school.

This class addresses both students aiming for a B.A. in English, as well as those to become teachers at HR/GyGe.
