Der Kurs findet auf der Oetker-Eisbahn in Bielefeld-Brackwede statt. Eislaufen soll als freizeitorientierte Sportart im Mittelpunkt stehen. Neben einer Einführung in die allgemeinen Grundtechniken des Eislaufens werden im Laufe des Kurses die verschiedenen Disziplinen des Eislaufens (Eiskunstlaufen, Eistanz, Synchronlaufen, Eisschnellauf, Eishockey) angesprochen und gemeinsam erarbeitet. Hierzu werden grundlegende Übungen auf dem Eis trainiert. Auch werden jeweils "Kleine Spiele auf dem Eis" abgehalten, die gemeinsam von den Teilnehmern organisiert werden. Zu Beginn des Semesters wird eine theoretische Einführung angeboten, außerdem werden Umdrucke (zum Nachschlagen) im download bereit gestellt werden. Außer der Ableistung der Studienleistung (SL) ist auch Fachpraktische Prüfung (FP) möglich. Die aktive Teilnahme (AT) erfordert regelmäßige Anwesenheit. Für SL sind einfache praktische Übungen einiger Grundelemente sowie ein Unterrichtsprotokoll gefordert. Für die FP ist die erbrachte SL Voraussetzung; für FP kann (je nach Studienmodul) auch eine theoretische Klausur gefordert sein. Die praktische Prüfung der FP kann in der Regel in Form einer einfachen Kür nach Musik abgelegt werden, die einige vorgeschriebene Grundelemente enthält.
