Etabliert als Kompositionalitätsprinzip nimmt dieses Prinzip in der formalen Semantik natürlicher Sprachen, wie sie sich ausgehend von den Arbeiten Montagues als linguistische Disziplin entwickelt hat, eine zentrale Rolle ein. Das Seminar wird sich mit den grundlegenden Möglichkeiten beschäftigen, das Kompositionalitätsprinzip im Rahmen einer mengentheoretischen Modellierung konzeptuell zu erfassen. Grundlegend heißt hier zunächst einmal, zu verstehen, wie vor allem der Einsatz des mengentheoretischen Funktionenkonzepts zu einer formal präzisen, extensionalen Bedeutungsrepräsentation dienen kann. Überlegungen zu einfachen Erweiterungen, die es erlauben, intensionale Bedeutungsaspekte mit einzuschließen, sollen das Seminar abschließen.
