Die Veranstaltung baut auf der Veranstaltung “Grundlagen der Demographie” auf. Kenntnisse dieser Veranstaltung sind zwar hilfreich, aber nicht erforderlich. Es werden theoretische, vor allem aber methodische Aspekte der Mortalitätsanalyse behandelt. Hierzu zählen auch die in der Demographie üblichen Standardisierungsverfahren sowie die Grundlagen der Perioden- und Generationensterbetafeln. Außerdem werden Aspekte der differentiellen Mortalität behandelt. Im Vordergrund stehen anwendungsorientierte Verfahren der Mortalitätsanalyse, die jeweils anhand von Beispieldaten der Amtlichen Statistik illustriert werden.
Im zweiten Teil der Veranstaltung werden Ursachen, (für Industrieländer) typische Entwicklungsmuster und mögliche Folgen der demographischen Alterung behandelt.Gliederung:
