In this course we will analyze three examples of feminist science fiction, Ursula K. LeGuin’s The Left Hand of Darkness (1969), Joanna Russ’ The Female Man (1975) and Octavia Butler’s Dawn (1987). We will explore how these female authors used science fiction in order to create alternative, imagined futures.
