Die Veranstaltung zielt darauf, den Studierenden die für die Beeinflussung des Gesundheitsverhaltens und für Strategien der Prävention und Gesundheitsförderung erforderlichen (gesundheitspsychologischen) theoretischen und konzeptionellen Grundlagen zu vermitteln.

Im Zentrum stehen Modelle und Theorien des gesundheitsrelevanten Verhaltens auf individueller Ebene und werden ergänzt um sozial-ökologische Zugänge, die auf unterschiedliche Bereiche des Gesundheitsverhaltens übertragen und auf die Frage hin analysiert werden, welche Ansatzpunkte für Interventionen sich hieraus für die Prävention und Gesundheitsförderung ableiten lassen.

Die Studierenden werden befähigt, Gesundheitsverhalten zu erklären und theoriebasierte Interventionsmöglichkeiten abzuleiten. Hierzu werden die in der Vorlesung vermittelten Inhalte in Kleingruppen auf ein Fallbeispiel übertragen, anhand dessen die Theorie bzw. das Modell erläutert und Interventionsmöglichkeiten abgeleitet werden (Studienleistung). Das Verständnis über die relevanten Theorien und Konzepte sowie ihre Anwendung im Kontext von Interventionen in der Prävention und Gesundheitsförderung werden in einer Klausur geprüft (Prüfungsleistung).
