392132 Social interaction with robots in health and medicine (S) (WiSe 2021/2022)

This seminar will focus on human-robot interaction in healthcare and medicine. We will discuss what factors are especially important for interaction with robots and AI in this domain and approaches on how to achieve them successfully. We will consider examples of common use cases. The seminar will deal with current research work and critically reflect employed methods. You will practice to read and understand scientific publications and present their main ideas to others.

In this online-seminar, in a synchronous manner, you will give presentations that will be recorded and uploaded to the Lernraum and you will lead discussions on your course topics.
The seminar will be held in English.

Learning goals - What will I learn in this seminar?

You will be able to

  • provide an overview over current use cases of social robots in the health and medical domain
  • name current approaches for making interaction with robots work
  • read, understand, and present research sudies
  • name challenges and hindrances for employing these systems in healthcare practice
  • critically reflect on the quality of interaction with assistive robots
