This course will approach the phenomenon of humour based mainly on the works of one of England's great humorists P. G. Wodehouse. We will first discuss some theories of humour and then turn to Wodehouse's works.
Some texts for the course will be provided via the Lernraum, but most of the works you will have to purchase yourselves (see: Literaturangaben). All texts must be read and prepared by the beginning of the seminar.
Please purchase the following:
1. Noel Carroll, Humour: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford UP).
2. P.G. Wodehouse, What Ho! (Arrow Books).

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
