Phonology is the study of speech sounds used to communicate. An understanding of phonology allows us to explain why words are pronounced in a certain way in a given language. For example, why the 'g' in Tag is pronounced as 'k'.
This is a basic, introductory course where we will discuss the structure of syllables, words, and other units larger than words. The course is designed as discussion sessions on different topics in (German) Phonology. Students will also participate in short exercises under the supervision of the instructor.

In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
