In den Kognitionswissenschaften wird seit einigen Jahren eine neue Idee verfolgt, die Leitbildcharakter für unser Verständnis von Kognition haben soll: die Idee des "Embodiment", der verkörperlichten Kognition. Dies mischt sich mit weiteren Ansichten der Situiertheit und des Eingebettet-Seins kognitiver Systeme in ihre Umgebung und einer irreduziblen dynamischen Kopplung von System und Umwelt. Im Seminar soll den möglichen Implikationen dieser Forschungsrichtung, die gleichsam als drittes Paradigma nach Symbolismus und Konnektionismus (Neuronale Netze) angesehen werden kann, für die Philosophie des Geistes nachgegangen werden. Dabei steht unser Verständnis der Natur mentaler Repräsentationen im Vordergrund. Aber auch die mögliche Anbindung an die phänomenologische Tradition (v.a. Merleau-Ponty) soll zur Sprache kommen.
Eine Leistungsbescheinigung (BA-Studiengang) wird für ausgearbeitete Referate oder Essayaufgaben ausgestellt.
Ein Leistungsnachweis (Magister- oder Lehramts-Studiengang) wird für eine Hausarbeit ausgestellt.

Philosophie ab 2. Studienjahr; Hörer anderer Fächer, speziell der Informatik, sind willkommen.
