Wir wollen uns das Werk des schweizer Malerpoeten Friedrich Dürrenmatt exemplarisch erschließen. Bekannt wurde er in den 1950er Jahren vor allem durch seine Kriminalgeschichten, Hörspiele und seine grotesken Theaterstücke.
Entstehungsgeschichtlich sicher ein besonders interessanter Fall: Dürrenmatt schrieb das Drehbuch zu dem Spielfilm "Es geschah am hellichten Tag", der bis heute als einer der wichtigsten deutschen Kriminalfilme gilt, war aber trotz der Schauspiel-Stars Heinz Rühmann und Gert Fröbe keineswegs überzeugt von der Verfilmung und hielt ihr daher schließlich die Roman-Adaption "Das Versprechen" entgegen.
Die Seminargruppe ist angehalten, das umfangreiche Werk zu sichten und zu entscheiden, was wir gemeinsam besprechen wollen.
Sind es die berühmten Arbeiten: "Die Physiker", "Besuch der alten Dame", "Der Richter und sein Henker", "Grieche sucht Griechin"? oder (auch) heute eher unbekannte Texte? Wir wollen sehr wohl Film und Hörspiel mit einbeziehen in die Diskussion, vor allem aber auch die bildnerischen Arbeiten und Essays zur Kunst betrachten, immerhin wollte Dürrenmatt ursprünglicher Maler und keineswegs Autor werden.
