392269 ISY Project: Unknown object's recognition by actively touching (Pj) (SoSe 2017)

- Short Description

Motivation: Humans rely heavily on their haptic perception for unknown object's
recognition and manipulation. In this project, we would like to transfer subject's haptic-based
recognition skill to available robot platforms.

In particular, the project is composed of two main parts:
1) improve the robot manipulation framework for implementing haptic search strategies.
2) haptic data driven robot's behaviour decision and the object's classification.

- Required skils
What you can get:
(1)Hand-on experience to use advanced robot platform and its simulator(ROS based)--Kuka arm and shadow hand.
(2)Some work has been successfully implemented in the Isy project last year.

Programming skill you should have:
C++ or Python/matlab

Please note that the teams will be selected by the supervisors on the basis of short applications that students are expected to send to them. Registering to the project in the ekVV will only be regarded as expression of interest; it will not secure a team membership.
