Contents, comment

This seminar focuses on key terms, concerns, and debates in cultural theory. We will discuss the philosophical underpinnings of culture and some of the writers who engage critically with the self images of the post-enlightenment era. We will also consider ideology, language and art in the context of cultural reproduction. Special attention will be given to the theorizations of Judith Butler, Hannah Arendt, Saidiya Hartman, Frank Wilderson, Jacques Derrida, Franz Fanon, Stuart Hall, Michel Foucault, Walter Benjamin, etc.
