230731 Englisch: Creative Writing in English, Part 2, Level B2+ (S) (WiSe 2023/2024)

Contents, comment

This course is designed for people who have some experience with creative writing, even if they haven't done so in a while. We will discuss the forms and structures of creative writing with an emphasis on fiction and poetry, although other genres may be looked at. We will share our work in a workshop format, where we’ll learn how to give and receive feedback. We will particularly touch on problems that the non-native English speaker might have when writing in English.

Students are required to write a minimum of three texts: on short story, one poem, and one work in the genre of their choice.

Creative works will be shared and discussed in class, so participants should be ready to share their work. No writing will ever be shared outside of the class without the express permission of the author.

Admission to the course can be achieved either by attending Creative Writing Part 1 (230730) or by emailing georgina.willms@uni-bielefeld.de with a writing sample and a short explanation of your background as a writer.

Please note: the first meeting of this course is on Tuesday, October 17th (week two).
