392269 ISY-Project: Deployment of the virtual agent Floka into the service robot Temi (Pj) (SoSe 2023)

Contents, comment

Temi 3 is a service robot with fast navigation and with an Android tablet to display content. A possible field of
application could be hospitals. The robot could travel from room to room and inform patients or obtain
information. Due to its shape, however, it is rather cold and impersonal. One way to make the robot seem more
human and friendly would be to display a virtual agent on the Android tablet. The aim of this project is to deploy
the virtual agent Flobi / Floka, which was developed by Bielefeld University, on the Tablet of the Temi. The
virtual version of Floka is implemented in Unity, so this Unity project must be adapted so that it can run on the
Android tablet and be accessed via the defined network interfaces. A functional network interface is necessary
because the behaviour of Floka is controlled by the middleware ROS (Robot Operating System).

The project is planned as a team project. In case this would not find enough interest for a team project, this
project proposal would also be offered (in reduced/modified form) as an individual project. If you are
interested or have any questions, please contact us.
