220040 Die Naturwissenschaften im 20. Jahrhundert (V+Ü) (SoSe 2017)

'Zeitalter der Extreme' hat Eric Hobsbawm das 20. Jahrhundert genannt. Dies trifft auch für die Naturwissenschaften zu, die in dieser Zeit von der "little science" zur "big science" aufgestiegen sind. Physik und Biologie wurden zu Leitwissenschaften, die gewaltige gesellschaftliche Auswirkungen hatten. In der Übung werden die wichtigsten Entwicklungen von der Quantenhypothese bis zur Gentechnik anhand bestimmter Leitlinien thematisiert. Dazu gehören innerwissenschaftliche Entwicklungsstränge ebenso wie der Wechsel der Vorherrschaft von Europa zu den USA, die zunehmende militärische und industrielle Bedeutung der Naturwissenschaften, sowie politische Einflußnahmen und Auswirkungen. Gelesen werden Quellenschriften der Zeit. Erwartet wird die Lektüre der Texte, Übernahme einer Moderation und kontinuierliche Mitarbeit. Ziel ist es, die Analyse von Quellen aus und über die Naturwissenschaften einzuüben.
