220160 Critical and Post-colonial Readings of "Global History". Entangled Modernities Latin America and China (S) (WiSe 2017/2018)

Contents, comment

During this seminar we try to develop a critical reading about the notions of modernity, progress, development, colonization, and global history. We aim at discussing the epistemological foundations, the moral concerns and the political effects of these ideas. Instead of following a specific tradition of thought, we introduce different approaches, concepts, methods and authors that, being part of the theoretical production and social research in Latin America and China, could help scholarly and researchers to take distance from the Eurocentric and hegemonic structures of knowledge.
