Wie erzeugt das Gehirn Emotionen? Gibt es für einzelne Emotionen bestimmte „Hirnzentren“ oder entstehen sie als „Konstruktionen“ im Zusammenspiel von verschiedenen Regionen und Bewertungsprozessen? Können sie situativ vorhergesagt werden? Was davon führt zu einem bewussten Gefühl, was sind unbewusste Reaktionsmuster? Und wie kann man das alles herausfinden?
Diese Fragen sind „klassische“ Fragen von Emotionsbiologie und Psychologie, die gerade in jüngster Zeit wieder neu beleuchtet werden und aktuelles Interesse erfahren. Wir wollen zum einen die Debatte verstehen und nachvollziehen, zum anderen aber auch das Für- und Wider der einzelnen Standpunkte anhand der aktuellen neurowissenschaftlichen Datenlage bewerten.

Jede Einheit beinhaltet die Bearbeitung einer Hausaufgabe sowie die regelmäßige aktive Beteiligung an Themendiskussionen. Für die Studienleistung müssen am Ende mindestens ¾ aller gestellten Aufgaben und Diskussionsbeiträge erbracht worden sein. Für den Erwerb einer Note sollte ein kurzes Referat gehalten sowie eine schriftliche Ausarbeitung angefertigt werden. Die Modulprüfung kann in Form einer Hausarbeit abgelegt werden.
