Writing and reading well in English are important to success academically and professionally.
This course will cover the key elements of good English writing using in-class writing assignments with short texts, weekly exercises in grammar and usage, and class discussions.
- Regular participation in the weekly class sessions is required. Because of the high amount of in-class exercise and workshop writing, if a student misses more than 20% of the class meetings, an extra writing project will be required to prove proficiency in the techniques covered during the class sessions.
Required Projects: the completion of 2 major writing projects -- a short story analysis and a news article summary comparing two sides of a topic.
