Reformpädagogik wird im erziehungswissenschaftlichen Diskurs auf verschiedenen Ebenen betrachtet: zum einen werden pädagogisch-professionelle Programmatiken in ihrer Entstehung zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts in den Blick genommen, zum anderen verweist der Begriff auf Institutionen, welche auch in der Gegenwart ein reformpädagogisch inspiriertes Verständnis vom Kind, vom Lernen und pädagogischer Professionalität vertreten.
Im Seminar werden wir uns zunächst kritisch mit den Programmen und Ideen ausgewählter Vertreter:innen der historischen Reformpädagogik auseinandersetzen. Neben normativen Vorstellungen vom Kind und Eugenik stehen das professionelle Selbstverständnis im Spannungsverhältnis von Nähe und Distanz im Mittelpunkt des Seminares. Daran anknüpfend sollen auch (Macht)Strukturen in einzelnen reformpädagogischen Institutionen thematisiert.

Die Studienleistung kann durch das Verfassen dreier Schreibaufgaben erbracht werden. Dabei soll mindestens einer der verfassten Texte in einer Kleingruppe im Seminar vorgestellt werden.
Die Prüfungsleistung kann durch eine mündliche Prüfung oder eine Hausarbeit erbracht werden.
