Das Historische Museum präsentiert mit einer Vielzahl von Exponaten Einblicke in die über 800jährige regionale Gesellschafts-, Kultur- und Industriegeschichte. Im Rahmen des Seminars entwickeln Studierende anhand von Objekten, Ereignissen und dem musealen Raum soziologische Perspektiven auf die Bielefelder Geschichte(n) und ihre museale Darstellung. Damit beteiligen sich die Studierenden an der Konzeption und Durchführung eines besonderen Museumsrundganges im Rahmen des 41. Kongress der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Soziologie (26.-30. September 2022 in Bielefeld). In Auseinandersetzung mit dem Kongressthema „Polarisierte Welten“ stellen sie Bezüge zu gestern und heute her und präsentieren diese den Kongressbesucher*innen sowie Interessierten aus der Stadtöffentlichkeit.
Studierende lernen in dieser Veranstaltung interdisziplinäres Arbeiten, entwickeln praktische Kompetenzen im Bereich der Wissenschaftskommunikation und der öffentlichen Vermittlung soziologischer Forschung (Public Sociology). Das Seminar findet in Kooperation mit dem Historischen Museum Bielefeld statt.
