The course aims improve your understanding of business and economic vocabulary and concepts related to employment.

Further it will:
- Improve your speaking and vocabulary skills with in-class discussions about business and employment issues
- Improve your writing, including writing your own Bio, CV, Application Letter, as well as learning to write standard Eusiness Emails
- improve your listening and reading skills through online videos and texts /articles related to the various business topics covered in the course

The course will cover the following topics:

12 - US / UK Business Practices
13 - FINAL PROJECT (1 required) - Business Interview Video <OR> - Professional Website with your Bio, Resume & Cover Letter as content

There will be weekly writing and speaking assignments as well as a final video-presentation OR professional website (free) project whose completion is required to receive the LP.

Students will develop their skills in:
• Reading - business publications, including charts and graphs
• Speaking - discussing business and employment issues
• Presenting - a business or employment topic of their choice
• Writing - profiles of companies and careers in their field
• Listening - to online videos, including Business English topics and videos of presentations about various business topics

The course aims to:

- Improve your listening and reading skills with online videos and texts /articles on the various business topics covered in the course.

One of the following is required to attend the course:
- Successful completion of an A2 course with the test at the end of the previous semester (see FSZ Spracheinstufung) -or-
- the permission of the instructor (can be requested in a short interview with the instructor at first class).

Students in this course will learn:
- English-language business terms and idioms as well as basic business economic vocabulary
- about international business cultures and cultural differences in doing business around the world
- business writing skills including a professional bio, email writing, resume/CV and a cover letter.

Course content:
- Students are expected to participate fully in class and on Lernraum.
- During class students should have their cameras on - if there are internet problems, the instructor must be informed in advance or immediately upon the experience of the problem.
- Class sessions will include several small-group (3-4 students) Breakout Room sessions with discussions on various topics, including the topic-of-the-week
- Students will prepare an informal "3 Minute Talk" presentation for a small-group session each week
- There will be an in-class pronunciation and speech training session most weeks

Students are expected to visit the Lernraumplus each week to:
- View videos, read topical texts and to write in Forums on the week's topic.
- Write in weekly topic-focused Facebook style Forums
- Complete worksheets on business vocabulary, including basic business finance, corporate structures and organization
- Do business writing assignments include writing a professional bio, business emails, resume/CVs, application cover letters, organization,

Required Final Project, either;
1) Record a 3-5 minute business interview-presentation describing your skills and experience (on a Smartphone)

2) Create a professional (free) Website with your Resume/CV, cover letter, and professional Bio

NOTE: Because a large part of a student's skills are developed and demonstrated during the weekly class sessions, should a student misses 20% or more of those sessions, extra work will be required to prove the student's proficiency and mastery of the course material.
