Die Vorlesung vermittelt grundlegende fachlich-inhaltliche Einblicke in die Gesundheitswissenschaften.
Zu den zu behandelnden Themen zählen:
- Wissenschaft und Universität in modernen Gesellschaften: Bedeutung, Merkmale und Funktionen;
- Aktuelle Umbrüche an den Universitäten: Forschung, Lehre und Studium im Wandel;
- Geschichte, Situation und Perspektiven der Gesundheitswissenschaften (international, in Deutschland, in Bielefeld);
- Interdisziplinäre Denk- und Arbeitsweise in den Gesundheitswissenschaften;
- Gesundheits- und Krankheitsbegriff;
- Sozialwissenschaftliche und psychologische Theorien über Gesundheit und Krankheit;
- Laienkonzepte über Gesundheit und Krankheit/subjektive Gesundheits- und Krankheitsvorstellungen;
- Empirische Befunde zur gesundheitlichen Problemlage in modernen Gesellschaften;
- Datenquellen über Gesundheit, Krankheit und Gesundheitssysteme; Interventionsstrategien zur Gesundheitssicherung;
- Gesundheitssysteme und Gesundheitssystementwicklung;
- International und Global Public Health;
- Ethische Aspekte der gesundheitswissenschaftlichen Forschung und des Handelns in den Gesundheitsberufen;
- Herausforderungen für Gesundheitswissenschaften und Public Health.
