While you will get insights into current theories and research on multilingualism in language teaching during the lecture series, every other week we will practice implementing these newly gained insights into English language classes specifically. This includes looking at some aspects of the lecture series in more detail from the perspective of teaching English as a global language as well as considering curricular goals such as mediation and cultural learning in the light of multilingualism as well as taking into account the linguistic variety of heterogenous student groups. We will practice elements of lesson planning and analyzing texts and cultural products as to the different languages used and fused.
This course has to be taken together with the lecture series ‘230266 Mehrsprachigkeitsdidaktik aus der Perspektive mehrerer Sprachdidaktiken (Ringvorlesung) (V) (WiSe 2022/2023)’.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
To gain study credits you need to hand in five session products, most of them elements of lesson planning or of analyzing aspects of multilingualism. To gain exam credits, you can take an oral exam on the contents the lecture series/seminar (for VM7 credits only), develop a project and written rendition of it or a longer term paper (FD 1 and VM7).
