This class constitutes one option for the BPST Anglistik ***primary school*** which you can do at the Laborschule (year 1/2/3 or 3/4/5) or the Grundschule Milse. During your placement, you will have to do a small teaching project and two observation tasks.
In order to make you practically fit for your placement and your project, this class will cover teaching methods, diagnosis of language learners' competences, fostering, differentiation and individualisation as well as lesson planning in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Classroom. Throughout the seminar you will constantly work on a unit plan and build it up step by step. Contentwise the class will focus on young EFL learners in primary school settings. Because of this, the class is designed primarily for primary school students. In order to get into the course, you have to study English as one of your subjects.
Furthermore, you will get to know the concept of Laborschule during a day project during semester. Exact times and dates will follow.
The placement will take part during the semester break. Please note that it is NOT possible to do the placement during the semester (i.e. "semesterbegleitend"). In the end, you will have to write a report about your placement.
2 Project days: in the beginning of the semester, exact time t.b.a. (getting to know the placement schools)
Placement: 4 weeks: during the semester break, in February or March, exact dates t.b.a.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
