The Global Health module is expected to introduce students to the basic theoretical foundations, methodologies and tools in the field of global health from an interdisciplinary perspective. Furthermore, the course will explore and provide critical insights regarding some of the current strategic commitments and agendas, stakeholders and platforms, and the key debates, controversies and challenges in this area.
Additionally, in Block II, students will make a study tour to Bonn to visit several German and multilateral agencies working in global health and related areas. This will provide students with valuable and highly relevant real-world insights into the scope, strategic priorities and initiatives of these agencies and the nature of the day-to-day work professionals working in global health need to carry out.

-Trends in health and burden of disease, global strategies, commitments, players and partnerships
- Financing institutions and mechanisms in global health
- Sexual, reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent health
- HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis and neglected tropical diseases
- Access to medicines, intellectual property rights and trade
- Non-communicable diseases (including mental health)
- Planetary Health – environment, sustainability and climate
- Alma Ata and primary health care, Ottawa Charter, Millennium Development Goals, 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs)
- National health systems: Structure, governance and functions
- Germany’s global health strategy and its expanding role in global health
