230540 Sovereignty and Feminism in SF (S) (SoSe 2023)

Contents, comment

Focused on science fiction, this course provides an overview of the genre and the key techniques and theories for critical analysis and interpretation. The main question and concern with which we will approach the texts is whether and how feminist writers/characters re-conceptualize sovereignty.

For those of you who would like a head start on the reading material, we will be discussing Octavia E. Butler´s Dawn and Victor LaValle´s The Changeling. We will also discuss Dan Trachtenberg´s film 10 Cloverfield Lane, Christopher Nolan´s film Interstellar, and Jennifer Phang´s film Advantageous.

Courses start: April 12th! due to HowToEnglish week
