This course will take place in hybrid form with alternating meetings in presence only and others with asynchronous work. The first meeting will take place in the second week of lectures and will be via zoom. This will be followed by an asynchronous week, then a presence session, alternating between the two from there on out.
In this class, we will focus on issues related to teaching a language in the context of intercultural communication and its methodology (with a special focus on making learners communicate in English). We will explore these issues with the help of video material from authentic, inclusive English classrooms. In doing so, we will cover the basics of classroom research needed for your practical term, develop first research questions, and draft one research project. This course will take place in hybrid format (mostly alternating weeks in person and online).
