Das Seminar ist inhaltlich zweigeteilt: die erste Hälfte befasst sich mit den Themen Praktikumssuche, Berufsperspektiven und ‐orientierung als Geisteswissenschaftler/in und Schreiben von Bewerbungen (für Praktika und allgemein). Weitere Themen können sein: die Perspektiven "Auslandsaufenthalt" und "Wissenschaftliche Karriere" nach dem Bachelor‐Abschluss.
In der zweiten Hälfte des Seminars kommen ehemalige Studentinnen und Studenten der Linguistik oder Germanistik ins Seminar, berichten von ihren derzeitigen Tätigkeiten und stellen jeweils ein Berufsfeld vor. Die Gäste wechseln jedes Semester, meist sind jedoch die folgenden Berufsbilder vertreten: maschinelle Sprachverarbeitung, technische Redaktion, Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit, Übersetzung, Lektorat/Verlagswesen. Insbesondere zu den Sitzungen mit Gästen sind die regelmäßige Teilnahme am Seminar sowie eine kurze Vorbereitung auf die Sitzungen erforderlich.

Sie können das Seminar sowohl VOR als auch NACH Absolvierung des Praktikums besuchen. Empfohlen wird der Besuch für das 3. Fachsemester, möglich ist er aber im 3. und 5. Fachsemester.
