Im Seminar werden Schwangerschaft und Geburt aus einer geschlechtersoziologischen Perspektive betrachtet. Wir befassen uns unter anderem mit der Geburt als „blindem Fleck“ der Soziologie (Villa/Moebius/Thiessen 2011), mit historischen Analysen des „Schwangergehens“ (Duden) und den leiblichen Erfahrungen des „Frauenkörpers“, mit der Sozialität „natürlicher“ körperlicher Prozesse (Hirschauer et al. 2014), mit der Konstitution von Kindern, Eltern und sozialen Beziehungen, mit der technologischen Sichtbarmachung des Ungeborenen, mit Reproduktionstechnologien und Leihmutterschaft, mit queeren Elternschaften sowie mit Schwangerschaftsabbrüchen und Fehlgeburten. Ziel dieser Einführungsveranstaltung ist es, die Phänomene in ihrer Sozialität, ihrer kulturellen und historischen Gewordenheit und nicht zuletzt in ihrer Körperlichkeit verstehen zu lernen.
