Die Vorlesung gibt eine Einführung in klassische und aktuelle Theorien, Methoden und Themenbereiche der Sozialpsychologie. Sie ist Teil eines zweisemestri¬gen Zyklus, bei dem jeweils im Wintersemester der Themenbereich "Soziale Urteilsbildung" und im Sommersemester die Themenbereiche "Soziale Interaktion und Gruppenprozesse" im Vordergrund stehen.
Der Vortrag des Lehrenden wird durch Diskussionsrunden, praktische Übungen und Lehrvideos aufgelockert und ergänzt. Hinzu kommt intensives Selbststudium, insbesondere die begleitende Lektüre des Lehrbuchs und der Schlüsselstudien.
In jedem Semester finden im Rahmen der Vorlesung zwei Übungsklausuren statt, und zwar jeweils etwa in der Mitte und am Ende des Semesters. Diese dienen zur Vorbereitung auf die Prüfungsklausuren.

Die Anforderungen an die regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme (nur gültig für Studienmodell 2002) sind hier erläutert. In den FsB und Modulhandbüchern finden sich Informationen, ob Studienleistungen (nur gültig für Studienmodell 2011)/Einzelleistungen/Modul(teil)prüfungen vorgesehen sind, und welche Anforderungen hierfür bestehen.
Das Modul G umfasst 7 LP (altes Studienmodell 2002) bzw. 10 LP (aktuelles Studienmodell 2011), die sich auf die Vorlesungen G.1 (3 LP) und G.2 (4 LP) sowie ein Seminar G.3 (3 LP – nur Studienmodell 2011) verteilen. Für Studierende im BSc-Studiengang Psychologie ist Modul G fast ein Pflichtmodul (5 von 6 Grundlagenmodulen sind vollständig zu belegen); für Studierende im BA-Nebenfach Psychologie ist Modul G ein Wahlpflichtmodul der "fachlichen Basis". Studierende dieser Studiengänge müssen nach dem Besuch beider Vorlesungen (und ggf. des Seminars) eine 90-minütige benotete Prüfungsklausur (Modulprüfung) bestehen.
