239816 Academic Proficiency: Conference Organisation (British Popular Music and Masculinity) (S) (SoSe 2013)

Contents, comment

This course will introduce students to the academic practices of conferences. Participants will be given the opportunity to observe and be involved in all processes pertaining to an academic conference: from the planning and organisation to the actual realisation, including the presentation of papers.
Together, we will organise a student conference on British Popular Music and Masculinity, to be held in June 2013 at Bielefeld University.

The theoretical and scholarly groundwork on which this conference rests will be acquired in the course 239815 Masculinity and Popular Culture; it is therefore advisable to attend both courses in parallel, but there is no obligation to do so.

Students interested in participating in either of the two classes ought to contact me (ralf.schneider@uni-bielefeld.de) as soon as possible, well before the beginning of the Summer term.
