This module explores theoretical and methodological approaches in social anthropology that offer a critical lens to the discipline. Drawing from different fieldwork case studies, the module explores research praxis that interrogates power structures in fieldwork by foregrounding the perspectives and experiences of people that occupy historically marginalized positions.During the module we will also discuss the influence of critical praxis on the method of inquiry, the role of the researcher in the fieldwork, and the question of restitution.
