This course is intended for any student who is writing, or plans to write, a longer academic work in English. (BA thesis, MA thesis, or PhD dissertation, or other projects). While this course is not discipline-specific, we will discuss general tactics and writing strategies, as well as research methods and time management skills.
This course is open to all levels, but a minimum level of B2 is recommended.
The course will be held as a series of four workshops held on Zoom, covering various topics:
23 April 2021: Organizing longer works and scheduling your time.
21 May 2021: Tone, grammar, and vocabulary building. thesaurus
25 June 2021: Writing grant applications, abstracts, and other proposals.
16 July 2021: Presenting your written work online.
Please note that the scheduled time on July 23, 2021 is reserved for autonomous work, and there will be no Zoom meeting on this day.
You should plan on attending all four workshops in order to obtain credit for the course. However, if you are only interested in attending some of the workshops, this can be arranged (for no credit points). Email georgina.willms@uni-bielefeld for more information.
NOTE: A c-test (placement test) result is not required for this course.
