392275 ISY Project: Home Automation Integrated Mobile Robot (HAIMoR) (Pj) (SoSe 2017)

Contents, comment

- Short Description:

To enable the more intuitive control of a smart home environment, a mobile robotic platform shall be used to map the users’ living environment and create a visualization (e.g. a bird’s eye view) while it autonomously discovers observable smart home actors to fuse these observations with the map. Finally the resulting map enables the users to easily control their smart home appliances. Conversely, the robot should be able to communicate its intention using attention guidance technologies.
Team members will:
1) Setup and extend a rudimentary mobile platform running Linux with ROS and/or RSB
2) Implement the autonomous generation of data for an interactive smart home map that uses existing software components
3) Incorporate one or more intention display technologies for attention guidance
4) Cooperate with the teams SIeMoR and VUMoR to make use of synergies

Please note that the teams will be selected by the supervisors on the basis of short applications that students are expected to send to them. Registering to the project in the ekVV will only be regarded as expression of interest; it will not secure a team membership.
Please get in touch with the supervisors for information on the application procedure.
