Die Vorlesung stellt die Synthetische Biologie in der Breite vor und greift in diesem Kontext mit unterschiedlicher Gewichtung folgende Themen auf:Genetik der Genregulation und Expression in Pro- und Eukaryonten, Gensynthese und Genbibliotheken, Klonierverfahren, Grundlagen und Design von prokaryotischen Vektoren, Grundlagen und Design von transienten und episomalen eukaryontischen Vektoren, chromosomale Integration, transgene Tiere, gerichtete Evolution, Computerprogramme zur Molekularbiologie, Proteinstruktur, biochemische und biophysikalische Messverfahren zur Proteincharakterisierung (z.B. Fluoreszenz, Zirkulardichroismus, Lichtstreuung, Oberflächen Plasmonresonanzspektroskopie, Kalorimetrie), Proteinreinigung, Proteindesign, Enzym- und Antikörpertechnologie, Modularität in der synthetischen Biologie, Selektionsverfahren und Präsentationstechnologien (Proteinfragment Komplementation, Phage Display, zelluläres Display, TAT Selektion), Proteine als Biosensoren, Bionanotechnologie, biologische Schaltkreise in Zellen, multizelluläre Schaltkreise, synthetische Biologie im Kontext von Pharma, Energie und Chemie, Computerprogramme zur Proteintechnologie
