Kritik ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil der erziehungswissenschaftlichen Forschungsarbeit . Dabei lassen sich unterschiedliche Kritikformen unterscheiden. Die Erkenntnis-, Methoden- und Ideologiekritik sind noch einmal unterschieden von einem Kritik modus, den die geisteswissenschaftliche Pädagogik formuliert hat. Diese ist von der Kritischen Theorie der Gesellschaft inspiriert (durch die Vertreter*innen der Frankfurter Schule), von ihr aber auch unterscheidbar. Dem Modus einer pädagogisch-erziehungswissenschaftlichen Kritik in der Jetztzeit nachzugehen, ist Aufgabe der Arbeit im Seminar. Die Auseinandersetzung erfolgt literaturbasiert. Grundlage ist das "Handbuch Kritische Pädagogik", das im Jahr 2018 in einer Neuausgabe erschienen ist. Für die Studienleistung müssen die Grundlagenliteratur gelesen, vorgestellt und Diskussionsergebnisse in Reflexionssitzungen moderiert werden. Die Möglichkeit für eine Prüfungsleistung ist vorhanden.
