This degree programme will start in the winter semester of 2027/28. Please note that the information on this page is subject to the pending decision. The M.A. Inclusion Studies combines Educational Science, Social Sciences and Sociology, as well as Psychology and Social Work with a clear international perspective on inclusive education. The degree programme offers academic depth and strong practical relevance. Alongside theories of inclusion and methods of empirical social research, inclusion is examined from a comparative perspective as a key challenge facing European societies and education systems. This is complemented by insights into professional practice within inclusive organisations and fields of activity.
The programme is designed as a multiple degree (3 separate degrees) and takes place across three locations at European partner universities: Ostrava, Czechia (1st semester, starting with a joint summer school), Bielefeld, Germany (2nd semester), and Suceava, Romania (3rd semester). All students in a year group complete the relevant semester together on site at each location; the Master’s thesis is written in the 4th semester with a free choice of location.
The programme also provides foundational skills in project and team leadership, consultancy, and strategic concept development. Career perspectives include research, teaching/training, NGOs, education policy, project management, and roles as a conceptual expert.
In this programme, an international multiple degree is possible in cooperation with the Ostravská univerzita (Czech Republic) and Universitatea „Ștefan cel Mare” din Suceava (Romania). For more information, please visit the information page on double degree programmes of the International Office of Bielefeld University.
