Das Nebenfach kann in Kombination mit einem Kernfach einer anderen Disziplin studiert werden. Es vermittelt den Studierenden die Grundlagen der Biologie. Den Studierenden werden die Grundlagen der Biologie vermittelt. Sie können zwei der an der Fakultät vertretenen Forschungsrichtungen (Genetik, Neurobiologie, Ökologie, Physiologie, Verhalten und Zellbiologie) vertiefen. Vielfältige interdisziplinäre Kooperationen mit anderen Fakultäten (vor allem Chemie, Physik, Technische Fakultät und Mathematik) durchdringen Forschung und Lehre.
