Biology explores the diversity of life and the principles governing biological systems – from molecular processes to the dynamics of entire ecosystems. The Bachelor’s degree with one core subject in Biology provides a broad academic foundation in biological theory and practice (laboratory and fieldwork) that is essential for biological research. This is complemented by relevant content from chemistry, physics and mathematics. The focus is on experiments, working with data and explaining complex relationships. The Faculty of Biology offers insights into current research questions through its research-oriented teaching.
In the degree programme, students specialise by choosing from the following profiles:
• Genetics, Cell Biology, Physiology
• Ecology and Diversity
• Behaviour and Neural Mechanisms
Career paths range from Master’s programmes and research to industry, associations and public administration.
