The Minor Subject (60 CPs) "English Studies: British and American Studies" provides students with an introduction to the fields of language, literature and culture.
At the beginning of the programme, students gain a broad grounding in the fields of language, literature and culture. In the second half of the degree programme, students then focus on a particular area of specialisation, which should primarily be geared towards their future career aspirations. Students can choose between various thematic specialisations, including Linguistics, British and American Studies, and Anglophone Studies, which looks at the language, culture and literature of Anglophone regions in Africa, the Caribbean or India and countries such as Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Throughout the degree programme, the teaching of specialist skills is closely linked to the teaching of key intercultural and communicative skills.
