The doctoral study programme in Educational Science provides advanced knowledge and academic competences to enable doctoral researchers to work independently on research questions in educational science and pedagogy. Its aim is to prepare doctoral candidates for a successful doctorate and to support their academic development.
The structured PhD programme is agreed individually with the supervisors and takes into account prior knowledge as well as the respective doctoral research topic. Credits can be earned, among other things, through taught courses, conference contributions, publications, teaching activities or interdisciplinary skills training.
The programme supports academic qualification, active involvement in the scientific community, and exchange with academic peers.

The studies Educational Science comprise 30 credit points.
Access to the doctoral programme requires an acceptance as a doctoral candidate and fulfilment of the access requirements according to the doctoral regulations of the respective faculty.
As soon as you have been accepted as a doctoral candidate in accordance with the doctoral regulations, you can submit your application for enrolment. You are able to use the German ‘Einschreibehilfe’ [Enrolment assistant]. If you are already enrolled at Bielefeld University, you need to apply for a change of degree programme.
