Every winter semester
10 Credit points
For information on the duration of the modul, refer to the courses of study in which the module is used.
After completing the module, you will be able to understand even more complex empirical research projects and critically reflect on empirical literature. Based on in-depth subject-specific knowledge, you will be able to apply diagnostic procedures in movement science and sport psychology and assess their areas of application. You will be able to define a problem area theoretically and address it practically using scientific methods. You will be able to plan diagnostic measures for cognitive or movement-oriented interventions and statistically test their effects using complex computer-assisted methods.
In the Data Analysis course, you will become familiar with advanced methods for the statistical analysis of quantitative data. These include structure-discovery methods (e.g., factor analysis) and structure-testing methods (e.g., partial and multiple correlation, regression, single-factor and multifactor analyses of variance, and covariance analyses). You will also receive training in research methods relevant to problems in movement science and will apply the methods discussed in the lectures in practice. In addition to the principles of study and experimental design and the teaching of research strategies, the diagnostics of mental and physical abilities are a particular focus of the training. These include motor testing procedures (e.g., homogeneous/heterogeneous test batteries, individual tests for diagnosing abilities and skills) and quantitative social science research methods (questionnaire analyses). You will conduct a study (in a small group), statistically evaluate it using computer-assisted methods, and place the results within a theoretical framework. Finally, you will present the key findings in the seminar. Furthermore, by participating in experiments with various working groups (15 hours), you will gain practical insight into different experimental approaches.

Diagnostic Procedures
(seminar)
The coursework serves to practice a reflective and discursive attitude to the topics covered in the course and has a practising and deepening character with regard to the competences anchored in the module. An academic achievement is the completion of an assignment for practice purposes. Such tasks can be: the preparation of minutes of a meeting, an abstract of a short text, an essay, the preparation of a contribution to a meeting or a project presentation, the solving of application tasks, the moderation of a discussion group or similar. The following applies to all contributions: Students may be required to submit written contributions totalling a maximum of 2400 words or oral contributions totalling a maximum of 50-60 minutes in one course. |
